more to the point Simon, was the tidal surge due to the Eastern boys getting out on the water all at the same time??

Thanks Simon, all ok here in Sunny Southwold. Just been surveying the damage and apart from a few £70k beach huts reduced to match wood and part of the harbour road collapsing, we seem to have got off lightly. The ground floor of the Sailing Club got flooded but that happens once or twice/year on average.

Not sure about our friends up the road in Norfolk, I think they got it a bit worse, apparently its caused £1million worth of improvements in Great Yarmouth.. :D

i was stranded in the race hut earlyer with paul and brian, im ok.

brian almost lost our ladder, it started to float off, but i managed to catch it with a home made crabbing line,

on a more interesting note the tide was odd, the tide was rising up the road two feet then it would go back a foot then come up again two foot, we watched it do that right untill tide turned, weird

For all those who came to Felixstowe Ferry this year. Follow this link to see the improvements being made so that you can step straight from the bar into your Phantom at next years nationals.

possibly the most rediculous comment from a Yarmouth local heard on the radio following the tidal surge was something along the lines of:

"Typical authorities... crying wolf again"

Doubt they'd have been saying that if the water came a few inches higher than it did!
