« on: July 08, 2014, 07:52:32 AM »

Hi All
Wendy and I are heading down Thursday after work we have use of a friends caravan just a few minutes walk away.
What are the thoughts on Saturday night and when are other people getting to site.
Looking forward to a bit of banter with the Castle Cove Done and past it fleet.

Did you all get the SI's today? :o

They are planning on sailing us in the Harbour >:(

I have complained, my only reason for coming down was to sail on the "Lumpy Bumpy" stuff ::)

Got stuffed by Sailfest last year, looks like CCSC are planning the same for this year, GRRRR :( :(

Hi Titch
I assume this is how they normally do the event some fleets inside some out to be fair it did not say it would be outside the harbour on any blurb I saw.
I will ask rather than complain if we can have one of the two days outside the harbour or swap at lunchtime or something.
When are you travelling?

I have decided not to attend, I can't justify the fuel expense with the "Chance" I might get a sail on the sea!!!

It does mean another more local person might be able to sail, I hope you alll have a great weekend and can tell me the stories of waht I missed.

Hi All
Many thanks to both Weymouth SC and Castle Cove for organising a great weekend. Sadly only 4 boats for what was some great sailing and many thanks to Paul slippery when wet for bringing the scales to allow Olly to weight the boat.
In all 3 races on Saturday wind SW force 3 to 4 (more wind and waves in than ouside the Harbour) Will Gulliver 1435 sailed away into decent leads unfortunately Paul 1433 suffered mast halyard issues in race 1 missed race 2 only for it to snap in race 3.
Olly 1298 and i swapped places a few times.
An evening spent giving and taking grief from the local ageing yobbs(Slow, Hawksey) and consuming far to much fine Dorset Gold Ale and the only spots of rain for the whole weekend.
Sunday some discussion about how Will had his boat set up the day before and what he was likely to do in the 4 gusting 5 we had. Many Thanks Will this improved my speed greatly.
Race 4 Will again leads From Paul halyard sorted I get towed to Castle cove with main halyard problems Olly third.
Race 5 Will starts well I come up with a new master strategy of following John Turner and Richard Parslow up the beat and it works I pass Will but he retakes me just at the windward mark. Will gradually eases away so me second Paul third with Olly just behind. Last race Olly has had enough heads back to Weymouth, again Will and I cross tacks up the beat until the last 100 meters when will gains a big gap and Paul is just behind at the gybe down the run it all went green for me letting Paul through and struggling to right the boat so back to sure for me soon to be followed by Will with a two part mast.
Paul sails well and completes the race.
Overall
1435 Will Guliver
1198 Olly Hopkins
1430 Gordon Kingston.
1433 Paul Birbeck
Great Sailing, brilliant weather and good fun social what more do you want apart from some more entries.
