PHANTOM CLASS ASSOCATION

Well, technically speaking if you sail ANY dinghy in races organised by ANY club, you should have a valid certificate, and that means being a member of the relevant Class Association.

However, few clubs or dinghy classes can afford to be that dogmatic, except of course for the National and Inland Championships etc. However, there are distinct advantages to be had from joining the Class Association.

 

  1. The Association is run by a small (but very approachable) group of enthusiasts. They want to see the class thrive. A large, active membership helps.

  2. The Association has a record of ALL boats measured, If you have not got a certificate, one can be re-issued if appropriate, for free, or we can put you in touch with a measurer.

  3. Regular emails keep you informed of all Class activities and developments.

  4. You can get help with tuning and access to free training programmes which are run by some of the class legends.

  5. Gear can be bought and sold on the class Facebook site.

  6. We can put you in touch with other Phantom sailors in your locality.

  7. Annual subs are currently £20 (£15 for full-time students or non-boat owning associate members).

  8. You receive a free car sticker to advertise the class.

  9. You receive a boat-certificate/sticker to prove, and display, your membership.

  10. Payment can be made by bank transfer direct into the Association bank account at Lloyds or by PayPal (these 2 options are the preferred ones) or by cheque as follows:

• Include your name & boat number as the reference

• Please note that this is a new bank account, effective November 2023. The previous Barclays account has now been closed.

 

* PayPal

• Paypal transfers are possible by entering the details required below.

When you click on the Buy Now button you will be transferred from the class website to PayPal, here you can make your payment.  On completion you will be returned to this website. The Class Association do not record or hold any card details that you may enter, all transactions are made through the PayPal payment system.

Please note that if you do not have to have a PayPal account to make a payment, you can pay by credit or debit card without having to register for PayPal.

After entering your PayPal login or your card details there is a text field to enter some extra details. Please do this for your sail number (if applicable) and your sailing club as this makes it easier to process the membership renewal.

 

* Cheque:

• Please make your cheque payable to "Phantom Class Association" and put your name and boat number on the back.

If you have a certificate that is either not in your name or needs some amendment, please return it with your application to:
